Middle School Teacher

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13

The above verse was my confirmation verse and has reminded me where all the opportunities I have been blessed with have come from and that I am never alone.

I earned my BA in Elementary Education from the College of Santa Fe at Albuquerque in 1997 and my MS in Curriculum and Instruction from Western Governors University in 2022. I hold a K-8 license.  I recently retired from teaching with the New Mexico public school system after 26 years of service. I taught 6th grade for a total of 13 years, 5th grade for 12 years, and 4th grade for one year. I have taught all core subjects – Literature, History, Math, Grammar, Vocabulary, Spelling, and Science.

Math was always a challenge for me as learner while growing up. I did not truly understand math concepts until I started teaching. I love teaching math because I understand the frustration and lack of confidence some students have while learning this subject and I can guide them through to understanding. I myself have become confident in math so I enjoy it and can share the enthusiasm that those who naturally understand math have. I am so excited to be teaching Math to all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students, as well as the other subjects I will be teaching!

My husband and I have three daughters and each of our daughters has one child. Our grandsons are 8 and 2 ½ and our granddaughter is 4.

I feel very blessed to have this opportunity to teach at Christ Lutheran School!
